Can the kotoamatsukami work on a full Jinchuriki ?
1. No it can't work on a full Jinchuriki.
2. Yes it can.

Well today I'm going to be discussing about the Kotoamatsukami and its effect on a Jinchuriki.
Well if you don't know what the kotoamatsukami is, it is a genjutsu second only to the infinite tsukuyomi, an S-class genjustu. The kotoamatsukami allows the user to enter the mind of his victim(s) and make them go through phantom experiences of his own choosing and manipulate them without anyone knowing that they were being manipulated. The only way one can know if he has a visual jutsu like the Rinnegan or byakugan.
Itachi also used the kotoamatsukami to break Kabuto's control of him under the Reanimation jutsu.
ππThe facts stated here shows that the kotoamatsukami is of high calibre, but even at that will it be able to work on a Jinchuriki?.
From the Naruto Series we see that genjutsu can't work on Jinchuriki with control of their tailed beasts because the tailed beast will pass its chakra through its Jinchuriki to break the genjutsu but this isn't the case for Jinchuriki without tailed beast control so in this case the Jinchuriki will have to break it himself or look for another alternative besides the tailed beast. From that you can conclude that yeah a Jinchuruki is immune to the kotoamatsukami. But in reality that Isn't the case. The kotoamatsukami is a genjustu that cannot be detected by the victim or anyone around him. Let's use Naruto as an example.
So if your answer was "no it can't work", I believe that I've showed you the reason why it can.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very wrong analysis as to how Kotoamatsukami works and how the Bijuu-jinchuuriki relationship counters genjutsu.
ReplyDeleteKotoamatsukami is described as a technique that allows the user to:
1. Enter the mind of any individual within their field of view.
2. Manipulate them by giving them false experiences.
3. Making it seem like they were doing things of their own free will, thus making them unaware of the fact they are being manipulated.
Now, you stated that both jinchuuriki and bijuu would be trapped in Kotoamatsukami thus making it implausible for either to know of it but that is false because firstly they are two different persona and secondly only one of them is susceptible to the requirements of Kotoamatsukami which is they have to be in the person's field of vision proven as AΕ who was behind a curtain was not amongst those placed in Kotoamatsukami during the Kage Summit.
Secodly, should the user enter the mind of a jinchuuriki especially one who is in partnership with their bijuu they would be fiercely and abruptly kicked out. Reference towards the reason Naruto was unable to use Amphibian technique to gather Senjutsu chakra like Jiraiya before him because the Kyubbi disallowed Ma and Pa from fusing with him.
Thirdly, as depicted between Killer Bee and Gyuki, the Gyuki is always in the know of Killer Bee's consciousness. It's not even a matter of simply monitoring his chakra flow (which will clearly give this away as the Kotoamatsukami is still an genjutsu and follows its principles). When Killer Bee was placed in an illusion by Sasuke he was not even aware of it, he had no clue, his consciousness was blank and all he could see were the projections Sasuke fed to him but the Gyuki easily dispelled it further proving my point that their experiences are mutually exclusive to each other. Despite having linked minds one cannot access the other through the latter.
Finally, your claim that if Kotoamatsukami is casted on a target those around them won't notice is also false, as this depends on the abilities of those around. The Kotoamatsukami is a sharingan based illusion for starters it requires alot of chakra gathered in the sharingan for it to be projected, also it causes a change to the victims chakra flow; both of which are evident during the Kage Summit when AΕ from Kirigakure used his hidden byakugan to tell Danzo was using Kotoamatsukami and as well tell the victims of it. Secondly when Itachi used Kotoamatsukami to escape from Kabuto's edo tensei control Kabuto could infer that he used the Kotoamatsukami on himself.

DeleteThe only reason Ao could know that Mifune was being controlled was because he used his byakugan and that was because he felt strange that everything was going the Hokage's way. Without the byakugan he wouldn't know that Mifune was under the control of the kotoamatsukami despite his decisions. And Ao clearly stated that the kotoamatsukami allows the user to enter someone's mind, and the victim and those around him won't be aware that the person is under a genjutsu. That's why I stated that only if an individual had the byakugan or Rinnegan he could see the chakra being gathered up in the eye(s) of the jutsu user.
Not even a sensory ninja would be able to detect the use of the kotoamatsukami because if that was the case Ao wouldn't have had to rely on his byakugan.
Kabuto noticed because he initially had control over Itachi. It's like pulling a box with a rope. If the rope snaps you'll obviously not be able to feel the weight of the box. And kabuto could tell he used the kotoamatsukami because he knew it was the only genjutsu capable of resisting the control of the Reanimation. Kabuto said "wait is it his eye's?. Yes there's only one genjutsu that's capable of doing that" (English dubbed).
You objected when I said that no one will notice but you didn't tell me how anyone without the Rinnegan and Byakugan could tell if they were not told.
In the five Kage summit Mifune was the only one under the kotoamatsukami.
And when Pa tried to merge with Naruto it was more like a chakra synchronisation and the ninetails kicked him out because he didn't like the idea of sharing a body with a toad and he could identify they were trying to sync because the ninetails and Naruto's chakra were already connected.
Now I'm going to explain the kotoamatsukami and sasuke's genjutsu on killer bee.
Yes the kotoamatsukami follows the principles of genjutsu but it also has a slight adjustment which makes it superior to other genjustus. When killer bee was placed under Sasuke's genjutsu, he started losing consciousness and Gyuki woke him up because he was able to identify that Killer bee was under a genjutsu also in the case as when he fought Itachi. But unlike a normal genjutsu or sharingan genjutsu the kotoamatsukami cannot be identified(the tailed beast or the victim can't tell that it's under a genjutsu) and that's because of the theory governing the kotoamatsukami.
But there's an exception and this is one reason why I really appreciate your comment.
"The way the jutsu is used" and I'm gonna bring out two scenarios.
1. Shisui places killer bee under a genjutsu and then throws a kunai to his forehead. The tailed beast will only be able to identify that it's a genjutsu because it can see what's going on outside(itachi vs killer bee, Naruto Shippuden episode 298). And due to that he'll be able to break the genjutsu.
2. Shisui places killer bee under a genjutsu and the command is "cut off your neck immediately".
The tailed beast won't be able to know it's a genjutsu because he can't access the Caster's thought. And killer bee's movement won't give away that he's under a genjutsu.
